October costume list is out

I made a list of costumes needed for October’s FFNL show, actually two lists. One is organized according to the sketch and one is organized by cast members. I posted the list to the private FFNL forum, if you are involved in FFNL please check there for what we still need if you think you may be able to help find stuff.

countdown begins to first show… ready set go!

The Teaser show was last night.  It was pretty good for being a warm-up to the season.  Aaron Johnson was a great host and provided himself lots of costume changes for his bits, sketches and introducing each stand-up comedian.  He was a himself, a banana, Popeye, a drag queen, and my favorite a pretty convincing Joey G.  Brenda truely has a wealth of resources that will be so helpful all season long.  I need to get over to her place and see it all.  Kristin is fun and funny to work with.  Angelie brought a diaper for Ben Jammin and Kristin brought a giant diaper pin.  I was left with an impression that I could have done more but realizing that is one of the great functions of a low-pressure short unscripted free show, and it all worked out pretty good.  Marky Mark is the greatest help, playing with Enki tirelessly for hours.

I designed the season ticket and I think they look pretty awesome, I wish anyone else got to see them though.  Nobody has seen them cuz we haven’t sold any yet… come on now people get your tickets now!  $40 gets you all 7 shows and a tshirt.

Next month’s script was released to the cast and crew today.  So it begins, the gathering, memorization, building, preparing, ticket slinging…. I will have a list of what costumes we need for Thursday’s rehearsal.  bye!

ready or not

This Friday is the sneak preview of FFNL.

My 2 yr old broke the looper on my serger, so I’m getting it fixed now… 10 days and $118! Holy crap. It will be a long time before he can touch my sewing machines again!

It’s been good working with Brenda so far. She is better than me.

Not too much to talk about yet. Good thing we are having a sneak preview, it’s a nice (free) warm-up for the big deal next month. See you then! It’ll be broadcast on Ustream for your home-viewing comfort.

just the beginning

The FFNL meet and greet party was a success and lots of fun. I met the new cast members and got almost everyone’s measurements! All except Benjammin, who wasn’t there :( but then I found his measurements from last season when I was cleaning my sewing area. His measurement sheet was all by itself, waiting to be found. So the only person I don’t have is KP the newscaster. I wonder what he’ll wear as a newscaster, maybe I don’t need them. He tends to go without pants alot, I’ve noticed. We’ll see…

Brenda introduced herself as a costume ally at the meet and greet, very exciting. She has many great ideas, practical knowlege and resources. I have known her as an aquaintance for a few years through her friend Danielle Orton who used to live at the Firehouse. She has had some things in the 23 retail store and fashion show. Dilcia said she can do some sewing!  Kristin also let me know that she is willing to help people get dressed on the night of the show again this season, too! Yes, stoked. Everyone is happy about that. She has a way of quickly tearing your clothes off like no other.

Last week I went to pull some costumes to lend out and noticed the weight of the costumes had pulled the bracket out of the wall and the costumes were all spilling onto the ground! So that night Brenda and I put the brackets back and then put 4×4 beams under them for some good sturdy support.

Hello world!

This is my first post!  I’ll be working on costumes for First Friday Night Live.  They just finished casting the show, so my first task will be to get stats for all the cast members.  Hi, nice to meet you can I measure your bust or maybe your crotch to the floor.  Hehe no but anyways I’m excited.

Tuesday  at the Grand Avenue Live with FFNL I met a lady who volunteered to do some sewing.  Then on First Friday former cast member Katie Conklin volunteered to be a person finding random costumeness at thrift/yard sales.  Spider will be doing that too…  and Michael offered to help build the big stuff with LED’s and robotic parts if we need anything like that.  Now I need to find maybe more sewers and some guest designers who want to take on some spotlighted pieces…

It’ll be fun and interesting work!
